What represents the September 11th event for you?

A terrible and horrific event... it represents the fact that way too many Americans are giving this country up.

How have you been affected?

Very much so.

Do you think it will change the future of mankind and how?

I think it has but I am not sure for the better.

What represents the September 11th event for you?

Every time I See a Commercial Aircraft Passing Over - I Think Back to That Particular Day in September 2001. America Has Come Under Attack... And Later that Day - All Commercial Aircraft were Grounded. That Was the Most Eerie Sound - No Aircraft Flying Over...Just Darkness and Silence...

How have you been affected?

The Events of 9/11 have Affected Me by Standing-Up and Volunteering for Community Service More. Anytime I can Assemble People and Praise the Lord and Country - I Will. I have been in the US Air Force for Thirty Plus (30+) Years and Will Always Stand-Up and Be Counted. Our Past Leaders have Always Prayed to the Lord and for Our Great Country, but it seems that Most People Today have Pushed God and Country Out of Their Lives and Hearts. And You Wonder Why Our Children Act as They Do. No Morals, Integrity, or Character. I am Not Perfect and Do Not Claim to Be, But I Can and Will Do the Right Thing. I Firmly Believe in God, Santa Claus, and Our United States. I Try My Best Not to Complain as Much. Enjoying Life Serving Our Lord and Country.

Do you think it will change the future of mankind and how?

No!
Until the People around the World Stop Fussing and Fighting over Nothing - then the World’s People will be at Peace with One Another. Our Lord Looks Down on Us and Sadly Shakes his Head Remembering He Gave the World Jesus Christ, His only Son, to Pay for Our Sins. We Have Turned Our Backs on God and Country - Have We No Shame? All I Can Say is - the Way People Think and Believe - We are in Serious Trouble. No One Seems to Care about Anything, except What's in it for Me? Parents of Our Youth are Raising Their Own Grand-Children these days because Their Kids Sit on Their A__ and Blame Everyone Else for Their Mistakes. There is No Integrity or Character with Our Young People. I will say that I have met a few young folks that were making something of their lives and you know what? These Fine Young Men and Women are Serving Our Armed Forces of this Great Nation - America. My Hat is Off to All of Our Fighting Men and Women for Their Sacrifices Towards Freedom Against Terro!
rism and All the Evil Peoples Around the World. God Bless America and Pass the Ammunition! In God We Trust. One Final Note: "Let's Take Back Our Country!" I'm tired of being Sensitive towards Folks that Wear Diapers on Their Heads and Those Who will Not Learn the English Language. This is America; Where the Official Language is ENGLISH! On the Other Hand - We Should be Speaking Sioux, Apache, Cherokee and/or Comanche. If You Think About It - We are the Immigrants that Came Over on the Mayflower... God Love You All...

The Greatest on Earth America

What represents the September 11th event for you?

After the first plane crash I remember watching live coverage and seeing the second plane fly in. Until that time everyone wondered what happened at that instance we knew exactly. The coming together of strangers and the patriotism that was so evident then, but seems to have waned. To sum it up I guess it represents HOW SOON WE FORGET.

How have you been affected?

I lost a brother in law to a road side bomb in Baghad on June 30, 2005. If it wasn't personal before it became so then. My resolve is even stronger and if I were younger I would be back in the military and there as we speak in his honor. My brother in law died as he lived as a true patriot. He served in the National Guard and was a Sheriff's Deputy before the war. He was a Christian and not afraid of death and was doing what he truly believed he had to.

Do you think it will change the future of mankind and how?

I am afraid for the worse. America is to busy fighting amongst ourselves to remember why we are there. WE WERE ATTACKED. We did not ask for the fight, it was brought to us. The world now sees us as a people who can't sgree and solve our own problems. I belive this will only serve to embolden others who hate us in the future. WE MUST UNITE or all we cherish may be lost.

What represents the September 11th event for you?

The shear devastation and the lives lost.

How have you been affected?

Coming from a Military family,
(my father is retired Navy), I've always honored those who have served and those presently serving our country. Since 9/11 though, I've become more of a patriotic person.
I don't take the safety of the USA for granted.

Do you think it will change the future of mankind and how?

I don't think it will change the future of mankind. Although I think it will change how we look at our own safety in our country.

What represents the September 11th event for you?

That was the most terrifying day of my life.
I Live in Oregon in the country but, that does not mean it couldn't
happen here. There is no way terrorists should ever be allowed
to terrorize anyone on our soil.

How have you been affected?

Made me mad as hell....
If I was a young person I would be ready to join the military and
defend our country in any way I was asked.
I feel more secure with the extra security at the airports and everywhere, but there still needs to be more education for the stupid people.

Do you think it will change the future of mankind and how?

Yes, It will divide the true Americans from the bleeding hearts.
Also from the crazies. I think if
you don't believe in your country
you should go live in a country that
is run by a dictator or someone.

How have you been affected?

Do you think it will change the future of mankind and how?

What represents the September 11th event for you?

Being a Police Officer, just about everything I do.

How have you been affected?

I lost someone very special, not in the attacks but as a result of the way the attacks effected me. I did not realize it until it was too late. I still don't feel the same. I know I never will. I, just like many other people, lost a part of myself as a result of that day. All I have left is my son and the spirit to go on. That, no one or thing will ever take away. That's what makes us strong.

Do you think it will change the future of mankind and how?

Its already changed. But if this world, particularly this country does not wake up about the inherent dangers facing us, we are doomed for more days like 9/11.

As a firefighter, we never dreamed the nation would need us to be able to respond to this type of terrorist attack. Now anything is possible.

Do you think it will change the future of mankind and how?

I think in the long run that the people of the planet Earth will tire of living in fear of these people and we will work together to wipe them out. If we don't, we're doomed to a life of fear and uncertainty and we can't live like that.

What represents the September 11th event for you?

The US flag and American pride. I have the US flag everywhere! Tattoos, on cars, flag pole, and displayed all over my home. Our flag is an important symbol and should be respected. I am glad if you have pride for your heritage, as a decedant from Italy, Germany, and Hungary I am proud too. But when asked what nationality I am, I respond American. If you display another flag on your home or vehicle I can only hope that you have enough respect for the country in which you actually live and display the US flag also.

How have you been affected?

I am deeply sadened for the loss of so many Americans that were murdered and for those who fight for our country and die for us. It hurts to not see this country 100% together in standing behind these people and showing them the support that they deserve. The families of the victims and of those in our military deserve nothing less than our complete respect and admiration. Any American that does not show this should be removed from our soil. I am so sick of negative comments and anti-everything organizations degrading our citizens and country. My father has a photo from a parade where military members are marching by and the only one to stand up and show them respect was an ederly man in a wheelchair. Would you have stood up? I know I would have.

Do you think it will change the future of mankind and how?

The events of 9-11 changed the future for all mankind. I think it has proven to all countries that terrorism is a threat and acts can be carried out on anyones land at anytime. Larger acts of violence are not thoughts but reality. Unfortunately our countries policies and feelings get shadowed by political correctness. This political correctness that we exhibit to the world makes us appear afraid and only a bigger target. We as Americans cannnot be afraid and need to be able to point out the truths that surround us, not matter who they might offend or upset. We need to be strong and always, always, always put America FIRST!

It was the day my nephew was murdered. He worked for Cantor Fitzgerald and not a day goes by when I do not think of him and miss him. I see by visiting the family room of victims that thousands of people are in mourning as I am for the loss of their father, son, daughter, mom, dad, cousin or niece or nephew...just like me.

How have you been affected?

I distrust people.

Do you think it will change the future of mankind and how?

I would hope that people never forget that day....it makes me sick to visit that hollowed ground and people are actually selling purses and books. This is holy ground; not a circus. America needs to realize that we are vulnerable to attack and not be so complacent as we were before 9/11. We need to band together and support this war against terrorism. Protect our shores from further attack. We cannot back down.

My son, my wife and I found out shortly after 9/11 that we were having our first baby.

How have you been affected?

I find myself being less tolerant of people. I am more suspicious of things than I was before. I was looking forward to becoming a father, and don't get me wrong I'm still a very proud dad, but I know that the world my children grow up in will never be the same as I had. They will never know a world free from terrorism or it's threat, it saddens me and makes me angry.

Do you think it will change the future of mankind and how?

Did WWI, WWII, Korea or Vietnam change the future of mankind? Of course they did, and so will 9/11. From now on every child in school will learn about terrorists and what they did that day. Every day people will live in fear that it could happen again, to them or someone they know and love. Every day one of our soldiers will pay the ultimate price fighting this evil, and every day a mother will lose a child to this cause. I do not see any end in sight for this fight and nor should there be so long as there are people out there willing to murder innocent civilians.

In 1 good way is that we decided to come to NY on our honeymoon , so we could pay our respects at Ground Zero , so I got to see a wondefull city which otherwise I may not have visited (We WILL be back) , The negative side is that the world is not the place it was b4 , even not being directly affected by the tragic events , It still in a way hurts & upsets me as if I were.

Do you think it will change the future of mankind and how?

I feel that if things carry on as they are , the west & arab/muslim states will become more disjointed than they already are & personally I cannot see it getting any better while THE WEST is seen in such a hatred filled way by a small muslim group.

Yes because our freedom is afected and every one is to scared to get on the plane to see family or friends with out the thought of 911. We cant even let our children watch the news and here that there is a threat. So that they will be to scared to go to school or even live. it makes it were no one feal safe any were they go....

Do you think it will change the future of mankind and how?

It already has - everything is before or since 9/11 now. People, especially children, are no longer able to be innocent - every day every person in the world has to acknowledge there are bad people in the world and the rest of us have to accept a way of life that attempts to protect us.

It has really made me think a lot about humanity, wondering where this is ultimately leading us to. 9/11 has given "UNITED" States a whole meaning to me, but most of all, I can never ever forget the images of death, destruction, and sheer terror that followed the attacks.

Do you think it will change the future of mankind and how?

Not for all man kind, because I don't believe that this can have the same effect on all nations. Certainly in our country it will. Unfortunately though, the cost of protecting the U.S.A. from future attacks, in my opinion, could possibly bankrupt our federal government.

I believe it already has changed the future of the United States. However, I just don't know if it has sent us in the right direction. While terrorism must be fought, we can't just run rampant through the world. We have to focus on our policies and how to protect ourselves by closing our doors and not allowing everyone in blindly. That way, we can focus on who already slipped in.

IA Native New Yorker Speaks - A Different Perspective

Like everyone else my Wife and I were profoundly affected by the horrific tragedy in New York and Washington this past week. I would like to offer a different perspective on these events. My following comments should not be construed to be a diminution of those who lost their lives or the suffering of their relatives or close friends.
Cindy and I are native New Yorkers, who for the past eleven years have been fortunate to live in the Third Lake-Grayslake community. While living in or visiting the New York metro area, the twin towers are ever present Although located at the foot of Manhattan they can be seen for over fifty miles if a clear view is available. – They could be seen in television panoramas from Meadowlands stadium in New Jersey, from the Tappan Zee Bridge in Westchester county, from areas along the Connecticut and Long Island shorelines. This is similar to viewing the tips of the Sears and Hancock buildings from Illinois Beach State Park. Like the Sears Tower, the Hancock Building, Soldier Field, the Water Tower they were symbols of New York City. But they were more. Because of their proximity to Lady Liberty and Ellis Island, the twin towers were truly symbols of America. Years ago when travelers arrived in New York Harbor by ship they were greeted to New York and the United States by the Statue of Liberty. Up until last Tuesday, the first view of our Country by airline passengers arriving in the New York metro airports from Europe were the World Trade Center Towers. Because of the sheer size and prominence in the New York skyline, they were used by these travelers as signposts to Lady Liberty.
The New York skyline has been changed forever. America has been changed forever. A symbol of our freedom and prosperity has been eradicated. I have read that the World Trade Center will be rebuilt. Such an action will serve as a fitting monument to those innocent victims and their rescuers who lost their lives that infamous day!
A personal note, during the years 1975 through 1979 I worked in Tower 2 (the South Tower). My employer, Insurance Services Office, was an original tenant of the nineteenth and twentieth floors. Through my window, I watched Bu
