Hello, my name is John Tully Gordon, I am an Eagle Scout and former
member of the Boy Scouts of America from Troop 13 based out of
Farmingdale NJ.

About two years ago a family friend came to me with a very special
flag that had the names of the nearly three thousand innocent men and
women who had their lives, unjustly, savagely, and tragically cut
short on September 11th, 2001. I took this flag and kept it in a safe
place until I had determined a proper use for it. On September 11th,
2005 after nearly 3 years of design, planning, and constructing, I
completed my Eagle Scout Project, which was the creation of The
Farmingdale New Jersey, September 11th, 2001 Memorial.

The Remembrance flag is one of the central features of the memorial I
built, and over the course of the past year it has flown high and with
true grace to honor the lives of those lost. However a year of
exposure has also left the flag somewhat damaged and time has caused
its fabric to fray and its ends to become rather tattered.

I hope to replace this flag by September 11th, 2006 and establish a
town tradition of raising a new flag each "Patriot Day" on September
11th.

I noticed this email address on the side of the flag that is currently
flying, and I am writing to you in request for further information
regarding how I may be able to purchase and receive a new Remembrance
flag.

This flag is truly something special and will continue to make the
Farmingdale Memorial a place for visitors to sit, rest, reflect, and
remember.

Thank you for your time and I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,
John Tully Gordon

Dear John Michelotti,

I greatly appreciate your kind offer and generosity. Enclosed I have
included the address where the Flag of Honor may be sent in addition
to a photograph of the memorial, taken at the dedication last
September 11th. It is a great honor and comfort to know that this flag
will continue to fly in new condition and be able to honor those lost
with all of the respect and tribute they deserve.

I will be forwarding the information and website regarding the Flag of
Honor/Flag of Heroes to a number of local municipalities that may be
interested in making a contribution to this inspiring effort.

Thank you for your generous donation and patriotism.

Sincerely,
John Tully Gordon
