Greetings,
My name is Ken Wood.
I am an Aviation Support Equipment Technician First Class (AS1) in the Navy. I have been in the military for 12 years. Last year during the USS George Washington's(CVN-73)Mediteranean/Arabian Gulf Deployment 2004, I received The Flag of Honor in the mail from my mother. She told me of an encounter with a very nice man at the pier in Bayport Florida. It was there she said that he presented her with The Flag of Honor in greatful appreciation for what I do. I wish I could remember his name so I could properly thank him. I think it was you.
This was especially personal because we are from New York and I lost a cousin on the 82nd floor of the WTC.
The Flag was with me on station with Iraq at that historic moment to whitness the birth of a new nation and some wonderful pilots onboard honored my request to fly it in combat missions.
In March 2005, after a total of 8 years onboard the aircraft carrier, I saw that it was all too fitting and proper to Re-Enlist in the Navy with The Flag of Honor.
My Thanks goes out to all those who have sacrificed to make this flag possible and my continued thoughts and prayers go out to all of the other families who have lost loved ones.
I have attached the official photo of the Re-Enlistment.
I would be honored if you would add it to the site.
In Greatful Appreciation and Very Respectfully,
AS1(AW/SW) Kenneth F. Wood III, USN
